John Barton 2019

John Barton

President

With 25 years of experience in commercial real estate, John Barton focuses on further enhancing Northwood’s office leasing and operations, integrating more mixed uses into Ballantyne and growing the company’s management platform in other markets. Most recently, Barton served as managing director and co-head of HFF’s Office Investment Advisory Group in Atlanta, where he handled sales of office buildings in the Southeast. Before joining HFF, Barton served as senior vice president and managing director of Parkway Properties, where he was responsible for the company’s Atlanta and Philadelphia markets. During his 16-year career at Parkway, he was directly involved in all aspects of asset management, including leasing, operations and joint ventures in multiple Sunbelt and Mid-Atlantic markets. Earlier in his career, he originated CMBS loans and practiced business law.

Tom Pizzo

Executive Vice President

With 22 years of commercial real estate development and management experience, Tom Pizzo is responsible for property management and interior construction, along with the three corporate shared services divisions of engineering, IT and security. In this capacity, he oversees the operations of more than 6.5 million square feet of Class A commercial office space in Charlotte, as well as properties in Atlanta, Boston, Culver City, Durham and Miami. Pizzo is a member of the Institute of Real Estate Management and received his Accredited Commercial Manager Designation.

Kate Urey

Senior Vice President, Leasing & Redevelopment

With more than 16 years of commercial real estate experience, Kate Urey focuses on providing leadership, strategy, planning and guidance for the comprehensive leasing and redevelopment efforts of the Firm and day to day management of all leasing and redevelopment programs nationwide. She works to streamline leasing activities and represent the organization’s innovative business model, strategies and successes to prospects. Most recently,  Kate was with Parkway where she served as Managing Director for the Southeast and Vice President. During her time with Parkway, Kate was involved with the acquisition and disposition of assets totaling $1.0bn.

Clifton S. Coble

Senior Vice President, Northwood Development

With more than 24 years of commercial real estate experience, Clifton Coble manages commercial development projects for Northwood Office in Charlotte and is involved with development and repositioning projects throughout the nation. Previously, he held a similar role at The Bissell Companies. Under Coble’s leadership, the firm developed more than five million square feet of Class A office space, including two million square feet of LEED® Gold speculative office space, representing one of the largest commitments to sustainable development in the nation. Coble also developed four hotels, including a luxury hotel and select-serve product. Coble is a Past President of NAIOP Charlotte and is involved in the ULI Charlotte District Council and Real Estate & Building Industry Coalition (REBIC).

Ted Mueller

Senior Vice President, IT and Operations

With 18 years in IT and finance, Ted Mueller leads all operations and the IT team for Northwood Office. He also served in this capacity at The Bissell Companies. Prior to coming to Bissell, Mueller led a global consulting team of 130 supporting a major Charlotte-based financial services company.  Additionally, he spent 11 years with Starwood Hotels and Resorts. Mueller held multiple positions at Starwood, including corporate IT director for new builds and transitions, area IT director for the Caribbean and South Fla., and director of IT at the Westin Charlotte.

Rhonda Walcott

Rhonda Walcott

Senior Vice President, Finance

Rhonda Walcott leads general accounting, financial reporting and budgeting/forecasting functions at Northwood Office, as well as onboards new assets and provides counsel and assistance to other Northwood platforms where appropriate. She served as vice president and controller at The Bissell Companies. Prior to joining Bissell, Walcott served as director of finance for the retail division at Crosland. Walcott previously held various accounting management positions in manufacturing, technology and chemical industries. Walcott is an NC Certified Public Accountant.

Marvin O. Burch, CHS-III

Director of Security

Marvin Burch is responsible for overseeing the safety as well as implementing security strategies for Ballantyne to include managing the security team. Burch also held this role at The Bissell Companies. Prior to joining Bissell, Burch served as security manager at EquiFirst Corporation. He also was investigator for CMS Law Enforcement. Earlier in his career, he worked in corporate security at Duke Energy. In addition, Burch served as a reserve deputy sheriff at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office for 17 years.

Richard Fida

Director of Engineering

Richard Fida is responsible for the maintenance and operations of the entire property services portfolio in Charlotte, including Ballantyne, a 535-acre community.

Hailey Rorie

Director of Community Relations

With over 15 years of marketing and event production experience, Hailey Rorie manages community relations for Northwood Office in Ballantyne and previously held a similar role at The Bissell Companies. In this capacity, Hailey leads massive community initiatives that foster health and wellness and positively impact the greater Charlotte region. Through unique programming, inclusive amenities and local partnerships, Hailey strives to build a strong sense of community and create meaningful experiences for Ballantyne customers, residents and guests. She also develops strategic marketing and communications and serves as the company’s media liaison. Rorie is a current member and Past Co-Chair of Charlotte Community Affairs Professionals, Chair of Ballantyne’s Togetherhood committee in partnership with Sara’s YMCA and Past Ballantyne Chapter Leadership Board Member for the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance.
